The Padme Counter doesn't necessarily require GMY, but it does make it easier to mod and easier to play. Using GMY on the padme team though does weaken your JKR team, so it's a rough tradeoff for GAC/TW.

Another solid counter to Padme is the standard JKR squad. Direct focus JKA and kill him first. I still keep calling GMY to attack him or assist with JKR's unique even though I know assists don't work because his basic feeds him 40% TM. The thing with this is it has no way of stopping Rey from running a TM train on you, which is why she's such a good counter to BH. You might scare your opponent into overkill but I doubt it'll hold. I also use JTR to counter Bossk squads and can't think of ever losing. I use JTR, BB8, scavenger Rey, Finn and R2D2.
